Antigua & Barbuda

Honeymoon couples find two island getaways in one on these islands. They say Antigua boasts a different beach for every day of the year. The island offers honeymooners plenty to do, including snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking, swimming with rays, hiking and zipline canopy tours. Those looking for utter peace and quiet head to Barbuda. The island feels untouched by progress, with the principal inhabitants being the graceful birds.

Antigua & Barbuda News
July, 2008 - Cocos Hotel Honeymoon Murder - The murder took place at the Cocos Hotel near Valley Church on the west side of Antigua. In a botched robbery attempt, Catherine and Ben Mullany were shot. Catherine died instantly and Ben died a week later. This was a particularly heinous crime and we (The Honeymoon) feel that would-be honeymooners need to know about it if they are considering this destination.
Voted Best Wedding Island of the Year from Caribbean Travel Awards 2005! The coral reefs attract snorkelers and scuba divers from all over the world. The wonderful beaches are reasons enough to visit, but Antigua is also known for sailing. The combination of great beaches, fun water sports and romantic settings make this a honeymoon favorite. The fascinating little island of Barbuda is home to one of the region's most significant bird sanctuaries.
Antigua, the largest of the British Leeward Islands, is about 14 miles long and 11 miles wide, encompassing 108 square miles. Its highest point is Boggy Peak (1319 ft.), located in the southwestern corner of the island. Barbuda, a flat coral island with an area of only 68 square miles, lies approximately 30 miles due north. The nation also includes the tiny (0.6 square mile) uninhabited island of Redonda, now a nature preserve. The current population for the nation is approximately 68,000 and its capital is St. John's on Antigua.
Couples can enjoy a wide range of activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing, tennis, golf, hiking, riding, fishing and hunting.
