Tahaa, sometimes referred to as the "vanilla island" is an island located among the Society Islands, 143 miles northwest of Tahiti, in French Polynesia. Tahaa produces some 70-80 percent of all French Polynesia's vanilla.The islands of Tahaa and neighboring Raiatea are enclosed by the same coral reef, and may once have been a single island. It is surrounded by many islets or Motu. Honeymoon couples often stay at one or more of the islands, which also include Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora.
